This weekend was pretty much spent indoors playing house. Which was probably a wise decision, since I’m broke. Yesterday, after getting home from work (yes, I was working on a Saturday, I wasn’t kidding about being broke) I made a HUGE list of things to get done this weekend. And while I didn’t really expect to get them all done, I came pretty close. Some of the tasks were pretty medial, but having a big, long list makes my OCD brain very happy, giving me more things to cross off and feel somewhat accomplished about.
WHAT WAS DONE:
*Put Together Bathroom Shelf. I multi-tasked by watching Intervention with Jeffrey while putting this beast together.
*Use Barnes&Noble Giftcard. This was a bday gift from my brother which had to be used online. Normally before I buy a book, I like to read the first paragraph to get a feel for the writer’s style. Obviously this could not be done online, so I had a hard time choosing. I ended up with No One Belongs Here More Than You by Miranda July and The Mole People, a book I know my roommate already has, but like I said, I didn’t want to risk getting something I couldn’t peruse first.
*Burn CD of Pics from Summer Trip Back Home for Mom, Dad & Sis. Done while watching some show that Jeffrey was into about extremely awkward, gay, Christian teens at summer camp.
*Update Netflix Queue. Like I said… medial.
*Mail in Paint Rebate. Money, money, money. I need it.
*Buy small lamp, round paper lanterns, cords for lanterns and window shades. I went to one of my favorite places to spend money (Pearl River Mart) and much to my surprise, found everything I needed. However, once I got home things didn’t work out so well. The lamp and lanterns are perfect, just what I needed to set the mood for my room and not make my accent wall seem so dark. However, now I need to get and industrial sized staple gun to deal with all the cords dangling from my ceiling. Also, I’m still searching for the perfect light bulb, a task that has proven much more difficult than anticipated. And don’t even get me started on my window shades. After spending a half hour searching for the exact ones that I wanted at the store, I come home to find out that they won’t hang in my window. All I have to show for them now is a few huge scrapes on my arms that makes me look like a cutter.
*Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market. I walked through this as quickly as possibly, trying to prevent myself from falling in love with anything that I couldn’t afford right now. Too late. I saw the perfect mirror for my room. $150. I didn’t buy it and I’m sort of regretting it.
*Laundry. Ahhh, so fresh and so clean.
*MySpace Bulletin/E-mail About Upcoming Shows. Class show this Tuesday. Shark Tank, Sunday night. Please come.
Watch Lots of Episodes of 30 Rock. Okay, this wasn’t actually on my list. But it did do lots of it this weekend.
WHAT WASN’T DONE:
*Make Returns to T.J. Maxx and Home Depot. I couldn’t find my receipt for the ugly sheets I bought at T.J. Maxx, which means that instead of getting my money back, I can only get store credit. What the fuck am I going to spend $40 on at T.J. Maxx?
*Get Refund or Raincheck for Mets Tickets. When my parents were in town this summer we tried to go to a Mets game but it got rained out. When I looked online today it said I had to mail the tickets in or go to the box office. However, it didn’t give me an address and there was no way in hell that I was going out to Shea Stadium this weekend. Also, this task was sports related, so it’s at the bottom of my list.
*Gather Sketch Ideas. Also at the bottom of my list. Being creative/funny is hard.
*Buy Mat for Room. It’s okay, maybe I’ll just fashion my unusable window blinds into a floor mat.
*Thank You Cards for Realitives. I forgot to buy these today. Which is fine, it will give me something to do at work tomorrow.
*Sign-up for an Online Dating Service. Ehhhhh.
